Experience the incomparable jazz performances and a supper-club ambiance as live jazz continues at the French Corner every Friday and Saturday night in May. Cool jazz, bebop and jazz standards by some of Houston's finest musicians. Anchored by The Paul English Quartet featuring David Caceres, saxophone/vocals, Brennen Nase, bass/guitar/vocals; Paul English, piano; Tim Solook, drums.

Dinner served 6-10pm

JAZZ COMMUNION & PICNIC

St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 4807 San Felipe Street, Houston, TX 77056

Celebrate spring and the Easter season with the uplifting music of composer and jazz pianist Paul English and his fine ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists. Music will include original works as well as jazz arrangements of familiar hymns for everyone to sing. A community picnic follows on the lawn of St. Philip's campus.

ROCO UNCHAMBERED: The Wonderful English and Oz

MATCH: Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston, 3400 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002

On February 18, 2018, at MATCH, the ROCO Brass Quintet – led by George Chase, trumpet – will present “The Wonderful English and Oz”, a program that includes the world premiere of "un petit ennui (oui, un wee ennui)”, a commission by Houston-based jazz composer, Paul English, as well as works by Farnaby, Sarcich, and Ewazen.

"I am thrilled to be writing more music for the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, this time for their Brass Quintet with George Chase (trumpet), Jason Adams (trumpet, Gavin Reed (horn), Thomas Hulten (trombone) and Jared Lantzy (bass trombone). Please join us for a delightful concert!"

Jazz/Gospel Service

Chebeague United Methodist Church, Chebeague Island, ME 04017

Pastor Melissa Yoshua-Davis and visiting composer, Paul English collaborate in offering the congregation a unique Jazz/Gospel Service. The UMC choir will sing Paul's arrangements of time-honored hymns, as well as some of Paul's original sacred music. Ben Yosua-Davis is acting director for the choir and community singers preparing for this wonderful service.

The UMC choir will be accompanied by Paul on piano, Herb Maine, bass and Tony Gorody, drums
